ESWC Preliminaries Begins

Electronic Sports World Cup 2008 Nigeria, kicked off today at the Indoor Sports Hall of the University of Lagos with an estimate of 64 gamers and 105 guests/visitors gracing the opening and free styling session of the tournament. Amongst the visitors that graced the opening session was the host of the popular live television game show “WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE” in the person of Frank Idoho, also present were Deji Omotoyinbo of Sports Vision, Temison Ikomi of HiTV, Adams Ibrahim of Astro Turf, Emenike of MBI, Jide of Superscreen Television and crews from Cool fm and other Media houses were not left out and everyone had a feel of what it is like play video games.
Most gamers that graced the event were from Lagos state, Abia state, Edo state, Rivers state and Ogun state.
Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 had Ajala Oladunjoye and Anubi Tunde emerging winners of the first set of qualifiers from Batches A & B respectively for the round 1 of the finals of ESWC NIGERIA 2008.
Trackmania Nations Forever had Osunlaja Oluwaseyi qualifying to the final stage with 16points and track time: 40mins 42secs, 59mins 03secs & 91mins 30secs consecutively.
The Grand Finale of the ESWC ’08 Nigeria will hold on the 5th of July 2008, where 32 Champions will compete for the Grand prize of $1000 plus an All expense paid trip to the United States to compete in the World Finale at San Jose California
